# Pixino: make your pictures look great where you post them

Pixino is a free tool that runs in your browser. It gets your pictures ready for social and chat apps. No account, no upload.

Drop an image in. Size it. Crop it. Beautify it. Caption it. Share it.

Pixino needs a window at least 960 pixels wide. Open this page on a laptop or desktop computer.

## What Pixino helps you fix

When you post or send a picture in a social or chat app, the app often changes it to fit its own space. It can cut off the edges, so the people at the sides of a group photo disappear, a wide banner loses its sides and a tall sheet loses its top and bottom. It can zoom in on the middle, so part of the picture is cut away and the detail you wanted to show is gone. It can also show the picture as it is, with no arrow, no name and no border to make people look at the right thing. Here are seven examples of what can go wrong, and what Pixino does about each.

### The friends at the edges are gone

A group photo of three friends, shared as a story.
Both sides are cut off, so only the friend in the middle is left.
Pixino fits the whole photo and fills the rest of the story with a blurred copy of it.

### The greeting is cut short

A wide banner of small flags that spell a greeting, shared as a portrait post.
Only the middle is kept, so just a few letters show.
Pixino fits the whole greeting and fills the rest with a blurred copy of the photo.

### Only three of the seven steps are left

A tall sheet of seven numbered steps, shared as a wide post.
Only the middle of the sheet is kept, so just steps 3 to 5 show.
Pixino shows the whole sheet on a pink gradient.

### The boat is gone

A sailing boat on the left of a calm lake at sunset, shared as a portrait post.
Only the middle is kept, so the boat is cut away.
Pixino shows the whole photo, tilted, with rounded corners and a white border, on a blurred copy of itself.

### A food photo that blends in

A pizza seen from above, shared as a square post.
The post zooms in and cuts off the edge of the pizza. What is left looks like any other food photo.
Pixino turns it into a tilted card with rounded corners and a shadow.

### A bare screenshot

A screenshot of an app, shared as a square post.
The post zooms in and cuts off part of the screen. What is left is just a plain screenshot.
Pixino shows the whole screen on a blue gradient that uses colours from the screenshot.

### Nothing says which lighthouse it is

A coast with a lighthouse, shared as a portrait post to show friends where you walked.
The photo is posted plain, so nothing points at the lighthouse or says its name.
Pixino adds an arrow to the lighthouse and a short text with its name.

## How Pixino works

Three steps, from your picture to a file you can post.

1. **Open a picture** Drag a picture in, choose one from your files or paste it. PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF and BMP files work.
2. **Choose an app or an aspect ratio** Choose the social or chat app you want to post to, or any aspect ratio you prefer, such as 4:5, or a size of your own. Pixino fits your picture in it and fills the empty space with a blurred copy, so you see a result at once. Then, if you like, improve it with any of the editing tools, such as the background, a border, a filter or text.
3. **Download** When it looks right, download it as a PNG, JPG or WebP file. Pixino shows the estimated file size first. In browsers that allow it, you can also copy the picture and paste it somewhere else.

## What Pixino can do

The tools of the editor, from the aspect ratio of your picture to the file you download.

### The tool panels of the editor

The editor keeps its tools in panels down the left side, and each one opens when you click it. Choose a panel below, or use the Next button to go through all nine one by one.

- **My presets** Save your settings under a name and load them again with one click. Pixino comes with ready-made presets to start from. You can also export your presets as a file and import them on another device.
- **Aspect ratio** Choose a template for the place you post to, pick an aspect ratio such as 1:1, 4:3 or 16:9, or type a width and height of your own. Original keeps the aspect ratio of your picture.
- **Scale & Position** Make the picture bigger or smaller inside the frame, move it with the offset sliders, rotate it or flip it. Reset puts it back in the middle.
- **Crop** Trim the top, bottom, left or right edge of the picture by an exact number of pixels. Undo crop brings back what you cut.
- **Effects** Apply a colour filter, round the corners and add a drop shadow with its own blur and offset.
- **Background** Fill the space around your picture with a blurred copy of it, a solid colour or a gradient. For a gradient you pick two colours and an angle.
- **Border** Add a border of any thickness around the picture, on every side together or each side on its own. Pick its colour from the swatches, type it or use the eyedropper.
- **Shapes** Add arrows, rectangles, rounded rectangles and circles, or blur a detail. Each shape has its own text, font, fill and outline, and a guide grid helps you line things up.
- **Export** Set the size in pixels, link width and height to keep the proportions and choose PNG, JPG or WebP. For JPG and WebP you also set the quality, and Pixino shows the estimated file size before you download.

### The aspect ratio social and chat apps expect. Or one of your own.

68 ready-made templates for 15 platforms include feeds, stories, cover images, banners and profile pictures. The platforms are Bluesky, Discord, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Signal, Snapchat, Telegram, Threads, TikTok, WhatsApp, X (Twitter), YouTube and Google Business Profile. The aspect ratios 1:1, 4:5, 3:4, 2:3, 9:16 and 9:21 are one click away, and so is a size of your own.

Each template comes with a ready-made pixel size. Switch between landscape and portrait, keep the original aspect ratio of your picture, or type a width and a height of your own.

### Reframe it. Move, scale, rotate and crop.

Drag the picture to move it. Scale it, rotate it from -180 to 180 degrees and trim each edge with crop.

Scale runs from 10% to 190%. Fine tune the position with the sliders, or send the picture back to the centre with one button. Crop each edge on its own or all together, and undo or redo a crop.

- Drag to move
- Scale
- Rotate
- Crop every edge
- Fine position sliders
- Undo and redo a crop

### Fill the space. Blur, colour or gradient.

The empty space around your picture starts as a blurred copy of it. Switch to a solid colour or a gradient, and pick colours from your picture or, in browsers that support it, with the eyedropper.

Set the blur anywhere from none to full strength. A gradient has two colours and an angle that you choose. In browsers that support it, the eyedropper picks a colour from anywhere on your screen, for the background, the gradient and the border alike.

- Blurred picture
- Solid colour
- Gradient
- Colours from your picture
- Eyedropper
- Blur strength
- Gradient angle

### Finish it off. Borders, shadows and filters.

Add a border and set how thick it is on each side, or round the corners. Add a drop shadow, or change the mood with a colour filter. A filter can apply to the background too.

You also choose the border colour. The shadow has its own colour, softness and distance. The filters are vivid, grayscale, sepia, warm and cool, or none.

- Border on every side
- Rounded corners
- Drop shadow
- Colour filters
- Border colour
- Shadow colour and offset

### Say something. Text, arrows and shapes.

Place text in 21 fonts. Add arrows, rectangles, rounded rectangles and circles, or blur an area to hide a detail. Hold Alt or Option and drag a shape or text to make a copy.

Text can be bold, from size 10 to 200, in any colour and opacity. Shapes have a fill, an outline and an opacity, and each one can be rotated. A guide grid helps you line things up.

- Text
- Arrows
- Rectangles
- Circles
- Blur areas
- Guide grid
- Colour and opacity
- Rotate any shape

### Save your look. Use it again.

Save your current settings as a preset and use them on the next picture. Pixino comes with 9 ready-made presets, and the ones you save stay in this browser.

Name a preset when you save it. You can rename or delete the ready-made ones too. To move your presets to another browser, export them as a file and import them there.

- Save your own
- Ready-made presets
- Kept in this browser
- Rename and delete
- Export and import as a file

### Export it your way. Or just copy it.

Choose PNG, JPG or WebP and a size in pixels, and see the estimated file size before you download. In browsers that allow it, you can also copy the result and paste it somewhere else.

Width and height can each be set from 100 to 8000 pixels, and linked so the aspect ratio stays the same. For JPG and WebP a quality slider from 10% to 100% trades file size against detail. PNG keeps every detail. JPG and WebP usually make smaller files.

- PNG
- JPG
- WebP
- Output resolution
- Estimated file size
- Copy to clipboard
- Linked width and height
- Quality for JPG and WebP

### Questions

#### Why use Pixino before I post a picture?

Because a social or chat app can change your picture when you post it. It can crop the picture to its own aspect ratio, so people at the edges or words at the sides are cut off. It can zoom in on the middle and lose the detail you wanted to show. A plain picture can also look like any other, with nothing to say what it shows. With Pixino you choose the aspect ratio yourself, from 68 ready-made templates for 15 platforms or a size of your own. The whole picture fits in it, with a blurred copy, a colour or a gradient filling the rest, and you can add an arrow, text, a border or a shadow. You see the result before you post, and you download it in exactly that aspect ratio.

#### What does Pixino do to my picture?

It puts your picture in the aspect ratio you choose and fills the space around it with a blurred copy of the picture, a colour or a gradient. The suggested colours come from your picture, so they match it. You can move, scale, rotate, mirror and crop the picture, and add a border on any side, rounded corners, a shadow or a filter such as Vivid, Grayscale or Sepia. You can also add text, arrows, rectangles and circles, and blur an area to hide a face or a licence plate.

#### How do I use it?

Open your picture by dragging it onto the page, choosing it from your files or pasting it. Pick a template or an aspect ratio for the place you are going to post it. Move, scale or crop the picture inside the frame, and add a border, an effect, text or arrows if you like. Then download the result as a PNG, JPG or WebP file, or copy it to paste into another app where your browser allows it. You can skip everything in between: open a picture, pick a size and download.

#### Why not use a full photo editor?

You can. Pixino is for when you only want your picture in the right aspect ratio and looking finished. It works on one picture at a time, every control is optional, and there is no account, nothing to pay and nothing to learn first.

#### Is Pixino free?

Yes. Pixino costs nothing, there is nothing to buy and you do not need an account. You can open a picture, choose a size and download it without paying or signing up for anything.

#### Where do my pictures go?

Nowhere. Your picture is edited in your browser and never sent to a server. The file you download is drawn fresh, so it does not carry the location or camera details a photo can hold.

#### Which files can I open and export?

You can open PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF and BMP files. You can export PNG, JPG and WebP. PNG keeps sharp text and graphics at full quality, JPG suits photos, and WebP gives the smallest files at good quality. For JPG and WebP you set the quality, and Pixino shows the estimated file size before you download.

#### Does it work on a phone?

No. Pixino needs a laptop or desktop sized window, at least 960 pixels wide. On a smaller screen, such as a phone, it shows a message asking you to open the page on a laptop or desktop computer instead of the editor.

#### Can I keep my settings?

Yes. Save your settings as a preset with a name, and load it later to apply it to another picture in one step. Pixino comes with 9 presets. The ones you save stay in this browser, and you can export them to a file and import that file in another browser or on another computer.

#### Can I install it?

Yes, if your browser offers it. Pixino then opens in its own window, like any other app. You do not need to install it to use it.
